Graeme Swanson is an abstract visual artist and an art tutor based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Born in Aberdeen, Swanson graduated from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen.
He won the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) Latimer Award in 1985.
Awarded professional memberships of the Aberdeen Artists Society (1981), The Society of Scottish Artists (SSA, 2008)
and in 2020 he became an Artist Member of the Paisley Art Institute.
Following early career invitations to exhibit at the Compass Gallery, Glasgow, the 369 Gallery in Edinburgh and the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. His work has been included in various curated and mixed exhibitions such as at the City Arts Centre and Summerhall in Edinburgh, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Aberdeen University, Foyer, Gallery Heinzel , Rendezvous Gallery , Peacock Visual Arts, all Aberdeen and in Ayr, Banff, Dundee, Forfar, Stirling,and more !!
Following his first solo exhibition at The 369 Gallery Edinburgh, Swanson has held a number of solo exhibitions at Artspace ,The Lemon Tree and Rendezvous Gallery, Aberdeen, Woodend Barn in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, The Meffan Institute, Forfar, Henderson Gallery Edinburgh, Edinburgh Drawing School
Swanson has exhibited extensively in Scotland at collaborative group and open exhibitions including the Royal Scottish Academy (where he has previously received the prestigious RSA Latimer Award ); the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW), the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA),the Aberdeen Artists Society (AAS) and the Paisley Art Institute (PAI)
Outwith Scotland he has had work featured in Europe, including in Florence as a prizewinner at Premio Firenze and at Galleria 360, in the USA at the Chicago International Art Fair (369 Gallery) and at Agora Gallery New York , in Australia at the Sydney Art Fair (Peacock Visual Arts)
He also has work in public collections including Aberdeen Art Gallery, Grampian Hospitals Art Trust, University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University Aberdeen and the ( former )Scottish Arts Council.. Private collections include Scotland, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, France, Spain,USA.
