I have been exploring my responses to the environment and heritage, the effects of nature and human impacts on coastal land form, weather, erosion, architectural patterns. Much of Scotland’s coast , about 20% is experiencing rapid change. Coastal erosion is a natural process, but surveys have shown that thousands of archaeological sites and historic remains are threatened with destruction. Because the coast is so dynamic, it is difficult to keep up to date with what is being destroyed or uncovered.
In these paintings 'Break of Day(x2) Coast (x4) each 15x15cms acrylics on canvas,, SeaSky 9(5 x20cm) and 'Silent Dancers' 133x100cm oils on canvas I aim to present an evocative, interpretation highlighting the intimacy and irony of natural beauty exposed through erosion
